Originally from Easton, PA, Dawn moved to Bridgeport, WV in 1974, graduated from Bridgeport High School and went on to attend West Virginia University. She received her real estate education through The Spruce School of Real Estate in Charleston, West Virginia.

Dawn worked at Davis Memorial Hospital for 17 years and then for 13 years in a local physician's office. She has been employed at Propst Realty for the last year as the office manager. She has lived in the Elkins area for 34 years where she has raised three children, Daniel, Kelly and special needs son Scott. She has a son in law Kevin and a daughter in law Jessica. She has been married for 34 years to husband Mark. Dawn is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins and currently serves on the fellowship board and nominating committee.
